Somewhere Past the Shire Chapter 4 (Starfell)

As Rosa crawled up the hill she began to shake, who knew what this creature was. Or what it would do to her. She came to the top to see a gigantic dragon, white as snow sitting there watching her crawl up.
"Hello" says the dragon in a mighty yet gracefull and kind voice.

Rosa gulps and stutters as she speaks "Uuuuh hello..."

The dragon smiles. "Come closer, I will not hurt you"

She comes closer still a bit unsure if she can trust him. "Ooook" examines the dragon. "I have never seen you before, or a dragon."

"You are welcome to look I do not mind"

"Oh why thank you!" Rosa said with surprise. "You are a VERY pretty dragon" notices her scared eye. "If you don't mind my asking, what ever happened to your eye?"

"My eye?" The dragon takes a heavy sigh. "It happened a long time ago....with a fight with a orc."

Rosa stood up "But you are a dragon! You breath fire! You could have knocked him right out!"

The dragon said calmly "When he is on your head it is hard to do that."

"Oh well that makes sense," Rosa sits down in embarisssment "Why are you in the Shire? Wouldn't you prefer a nice mountain to live in?"

The dragon shakes its head. "No, I prefer to watch the hobbits in this village."

"Is that all you do? My friend Dimple has seen you before."

"No. I can become a hobbit when I please. I often come down into The Shire

"Wow! My name is Rosa by the way." Rosa stands up and does a curtsey. "What is yours my dear dragon?"

"Nice to meet you Rosa" Bends his neck in a bow "I am Starfell."

"Why its a pleasure to meet you too Starfell, what a lovely name."

"Thank you Rosa"

"Your very welcome, would you like to go to the Green Dragon with me?"

"Of course. Look over there for a second please."

"Oh! Uh ok" Rosa looks away wondering why she must do this.

Then there is a flash of light.

"You may look back now" His voice is less dragony now for he is a hobbit.

"Oh my! You are a hobbit!" Rosa has a very shocked look on her face.

"Yes" Starfell smiles "Shall we go?"

"Oh yes! Lets!" Rosa strolls to the Green Dragon.

As they walk in there are many hobbits there. Rosie is in the corner doing dishes. There are drinking games going on, dancing, Starfell goes and sits to a table where no one ever sits. Rosa, doing the polite thing to do sits next to Starfell.

"Well what would you like to drink?"

Starfell thinks a bit "A bit of ale for me"

"Alright I will be back in a minute." Walks to the counter. "I would like a ale, and some water please." Rosa asks. 'Comin right up missy." says the hobbit at the counter.

Rosa looks up to see Starfell has her feet on the table while he is smoking.

"Hey Starfell! Feet off the table!" Rosa could not believe what she just said. Rosa mumbles "I hope I am not turning into my Mother."

Starfell smiles and takes his dirty feet off the round table.

Rosa smiles as well and takes they're drinks to the table. "Here you are"

Starfell takes the cup. "Thank you"

"Your welcome" Rosa takes a sip of water. "So Starfell,'' Rosa says trying to start a conversation. "Where do you go when you are a hobbit?"

"Normally here I don't go far."

Rosa knowing a great place for them to relax asks "Would you go if I accompanied you?"

"It depends. I went to many places when I had both eyes."

"Well I know this really beautiful place and I would like to show you. I have never shown anyone before its kinda where I like to take my mind off things."

Starfell smiles "That would be nice"

''Great uh lets go then." walks out of Green Dragon to a beautiful lake with the moon in the sky reflecting on the lake "My Mother showed me this place and told me never to show anyone unless you trust them very much."

"Then why show me? You have barely known me for an hour and you are showing me something special."

"Because I trust you, you are a dragon you could have eaten me whole instead you didn't and you trusted me with you, I could have took out my sword and killed you. Also its a beautiful place why not show a beautiful dragon as well."

He smiles "Thank you Rosa." Then he turns into a dragon again. "Now I fit the part."

"Yes you do!" She says with a giggle. "Your very welcome."

Then that night Rosa falls asleep on the fresh grass near the lake. When she awakens, Starfell is gone so Rosa hurries and goes back to her hobbit hole takes care of her dog and thinks of the magical night she just had........
