As Dimple wandered into the pantry a piece of paper on the floor caught her eye. she went over and picked it up, it was almost exactly where she had...."Oh my foots! I forgot my bread and cheese last night!" Dimple exclaimed, for indeed she had forgotten to pick up her mess before she went to bed. Dimple read the piece of paper, it was in her mother's handwriting.
Dear Dimple, guess what I found this morning? Yes the food you tried to sneak last night. Dimple your Father and I are going to your Uncle Willibalds house to see if we can get some of his yummy Heirloom tomatoes. YOU BE as GOOD as you can. And don't wreck the house!
I love you Dimple, show me you are able to be trusted. And I will forgive your sneaking last night.( and maybe even let you have supper tonight, hmmm?)
~Mum
P.S. I told your brother to wake you up.
Dimple stomped her foot, why can't I ever remember to do anything right!
But then she smiled," a challenge hmm? I accept mother!" Dimple was going to show her Mother once and for all that she could be a good housekeeper and cook. "a double breakfast!" Dimple exclaimed "that is what we need this morning!" She darted to the kitchen to find Baby Mo playing with the aprons trying to make a tent. Dimple just laughed and grabbed one of the aprons hanging off the table that played the role of the door. Moro stuck his head out from his mini-mansion pouty lip in full force. "Dimps! give dat back!" Dimple displayed a face full of sympathy and false worry.
"Baby Mo? what about breakfast? I can not cook without an apron!" Moro glared at 'Dimps' and then darted back under the breakfast table. "don't get anuder won! de's mine!"
Dimple giggled as she put on her apron. "So you are not hungry anymore?" out poked the dark red curly head again, "Dimps! of course I hungy! isa growin obbit!"
"Then Mr. growin 'obbit' come help me get breakfast together!" Moro scooted out from under the table and grabbed a big pale blue apron off his apron heap and leapt up to help with the double breakfast. Now a double breakfast is not just two meals shoved together, not Dimple's version of a double breakfast at least. Her style of a double-breakfast is often confused with a feast. For she cooks so much breakfast that not only are you stuffed beyond reason, you are also stuck cleaning a filthy kitchen. (Dimple has yet to learn how to clean up while she is cooking.) So the two young halflings cooked and cooked until everything was done and when at last they sat down for their breakfast the two's feet were so tired and the both of them were so hot that neither of them could eat much at all. so I do suppose that Dimple's idea of a double breakfast was not such a good idea.
Baby Mo leaned back in his chair "Oh Dimps! i's sooooo fuww! i can hawdwy move!" Dimple copied his posture she tired and full as well. "yes me too Mo, but we have to clean the kitchen."
Moro moaned "But Dimps i's sweepy too! soooo sweepy!"
"then go to bed!" Dimple replied
Moro looked horrified "Dimps! bed? de sun's stiw out! I can't go ta bed now!"
Dimple frowned "you are in quite a predicament then! either you help me clean the kitchen and i give you a candied plum or you go to bed and sleep while the sun is still out!"
Moro licked his lips he just found out he was not quite as full as he had thought. at least not while there are candied plums in question. "okay dimps! wet's get cweanin!"
Dimple smiled then looked at the kitchen. She rolled her eyes. The kitchen was filthy and she had to clean it before mother got home. and what was she going to do with all this extra food?
An idea struck her. If the neighbours don't want any we do still have pigs. Alas our little Dimple has done it again. Caused trouble without knowing it.
